Microneedling

What is it?

Microneedling is a minimally invasive, non-surgical, and non-ablative therapy of facial tissues with minimal post procedure downtime. The procedure, performed with the Dermapen microneedling device, promotes scarless healing and natural collagen production in the skin to improve the appearances of scars, acne scarring, stretch marks, wrinkles, fine lines, pigmentation and rejuvenate the skin.

What does it do?

The Dermapen microneedling device is guided over the treatment area to create tiny punctures in the top layer of the skin, causing the stimulation of healthy collagen. These small punctures in the skin allow for nutrients to be absorbed into the deep layers of the skin. The body naturally initiates the healing response when there is trauma or an injury. The skin stimulates release of growth factors that will lead to the generation of collagen and elastin. Therefore, when the punctures are made using the Dermapen, the skin will treat the punctures as wounds and therefore initiate healing. This means that microneedling tends to trick the skin to produce collagen and elastin to promote “healing” and the effect will be rejuvenated skin. Additionally, we are able to enhance this therapy at The Logan Institute by filling these small punctures with concentrated platelet-rich fibrin, derived from the patient’s own blood.

Note: The Logan Institute utilizes any number of treatment modalities to best resolve symptoms and the underlying root cause of those symptoms.
